School of Worship

School of Worship

A SECOND LEVEL SCHOOL AT YWAM MONTANA

Course Description.

The School of Worship (SOW) is a five-month course that includes a three-month lecture phase and a two-month optional outreach.

SOW is a school that trains people who want to dive deeper into knowing what worship is, how it transforms us, and how worship is used as a launching pad into missions! Here at our campus, we focus on three main goals in the SOW:

  • Train people in having a biblical theology of worship;
  • Teach the purpose/function of worship in the church;
  • Teach practical skills that can be used both in the local church and in missions.

With these goals in mind, this school will give believers a good foundation in the knowledge & practice of worship, and a desire to preach the gospel and serve the church, whether that be in their own hometown or on international outreaches!

Lecture.

Three months of training, where students will learn from topics on many different aspects of Christian worship. This includes daily lectures from various guest speakers. The course will cover topics concerning worship, the arts and music workshops, songwriting, book reading, and an in-depth inductive study of the Psalms.

Outreach.

We believe that the end goal of missions is worship. We want people from every nation to offer worship to our God. Outreach is a chance for students to apply what they’ve learned, using the things they’ve been trained in. To both serve and partner with the body of Christ in another part of the world, and preach the gospel to the lost.

Outcome.

Worship isn’t just something we do, worship does something to us. It transforms us, and what we believe about worship matters. This school benefits any believer interested in worship, whether you are an aspiring worship leader or not. If you would like to dive deeper into knowing the purpose and role of worship, explore the arts, and be transformed by a greater love for Christ, this school is for you!

What our students say.

Mike
Mike HohnholzSOW Student 1999
My time with YWAM in the school of worship was one of the most impactful and character shaping seasons of my life. I would not be the man I am today if it weren’t for my time in Lakeside. I am thankful for the amazing leaders as well as all the other staff that helped to shape me as a follower of Jesus and a worship leader. I have been in full time vocational music ministry for 18 years now and I still remember my time with SOW like it was yesterday! — In 2006, Mike was Nominated for “Worship Song of the Year” for the song “Amazing Love I’ll Never Be The Same” and won “Best New Artist” by Worship Leader Magazine.

The School Of Worship taught me how to write my own music, how to lead a band and how to play an instrument. Out of everything I learned in the SOW I discovered who I am as a worshipper. God designed me to be my own person and my worship to him to be genuine and unique. Using what I have learned I started to pioneer a new worship ministry and job opportunities have opened up as well. When we give our gifts to God He opens up doors that we didn’t know were there.

The School of Worship in Montana really changed the way I viewed relationship with Jesus. Somehow, it became more personal than I’d known it to be! Jesus continues to draw me in, as I continue to have intimate encounters with Him, and the School of Worship helped me understand how important those personal and intimate moments are for us personally, before we lead people into His Presence. How we can not lead people to a place we haven’t been! So now, I have this beautiful desire to be undone by God, as He leads me to a deeper relationship with Him, to be honest and bare before Him, allowing Him in every part of my life!
I have grown in my skills as well!
I’d always had a desire to play the guitar and through worship school in Montana, I was blessed to have had an amazing guitar teacher, who pushed me and helped me achieve that desire! I grew alot in my singing as well, as we had amazing vocal teachers who taught us and gave us amazing tips on how to use our voices! It was the best!
