A SECOND LEVEL SCHOOL AT YWAM MONTANA
Course Description.
The Oral Bible Translation (OBT) school is a 4 month secondary school, designed for those who feel called to End Bible Poverty by learning how to be facilitators of bible translation in oral communities. The first 3 months will be a training phase, where students will learn different techniques for facilitating an oral bible translation project. Students will then take what they’ve learned and put it into practice during a 1 month outreach phase. During outreach, students will get the opportunity to work with a real translation project, providing access to scripture for a completely bibleless language.
The great majority of those who speak Bible-less languages are oral learners. Therefore, we value an oral approach to Bible translation. While it is not the only valid approach, we consider it to be a good and desirable one – especially in the initial stages of Bible translation.
The OBT school will equip people to be oral translation facilitators and train trainers who want to multiply oral Bible translation projects and OBT schools within YWAM.
- DTS is a prerequisite
We do our very best to keep prices low, and un-changing, but all prices are approximate. Seasonal travel, outreach location, and other unforeseen factors can impact the final cost. Please feel free to contact us for more details.
Training.
During lectures students will hear from weekly speakers who will teach what it looks to serve and facilitate Bible translation in oral communities, and what it means to carry the heart for these cultures and people groups. Students will also have opportunities to receive hands-on training and studying during the course of the school.
Outreach.
We will put into practice skills learned during the training phase by partnering with translation projects that are taking place across the globe!
Vision.
We believe this school is not just for the Bible scholars, or the intellectual thinker, but for those who have a yes in their hearts and are willing to take a step of obedience. God is calling for this to be done through everyone, and for everyone.
Meet Your School Staff.

Katelynn Montagino
Havre, MTSchool LeaderHey Everyone! My name is Katelynn, and I am a Montana girl born and raised! I have been apart of YWAM since Fall 2020, when I did my DTS at Lakeside MT. During my DTS, I heard about the need for translation work for the remaining Bibleless languages and felt God put a burden on my heart to get involved. It was never on my radar to be a part of something such as translation work, I thought it could only be for those who were bible scholars and intellectual thinkers. But God called me to take a step of obedience and trust during a Music school to get involved. This lead me to doing a school on Oral Bible Translation in Kona HA in the fall of 2021, and now I see that God wants to gives the Bible through everyone, and for everyone.

Andrea Martin
Stevens, PennsylvaniaEBPN StaffI came to YWAM Montana in 2017 to do my DTS and then I just kept coming back again and again. Eventually I made it official and moved here to join staff in the fall of 2021. I joined the End Bible Poverty Now team in January after seeing a video of a people group receiving the first Bibles in their language. The Lord went after my heart with how much this matters and that's why I am here. I have a huge heart for Bible engagement and seeing others thrive in their faith. I am also the reason half the office is currently covered in plants.
Transform nations through translation.
At YWAM Montana-Lakeside, we are all about doing whatever it takes to know God and to make Him known, together! We’d love to help you make that next step in your global missions education. Apply now!
